Brazos Learning Montessori School nurtures academic excellence, humanitarian values, and life skills. Our program is based on Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy: Children reach their highest potential when allowed to follow their instincts.
The Montessori method is holistic, allowing students to see the bigger picture: the why of everything they learn. Students are empowered to become confident, empathetic, and intellectually curious problem-solvers inside and outside of the classroom.
Exercises and Activities
Subjects like history, geography, science, art, and music are integrated in the cultural area of the curriculum. Children learn about their own community and the world around them. Discovering similarities and differences among people and places helps children develop an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of our world, and a respect for all living things.
Children learn daily life skills, such as how to get dressed, prepare snacks, set the table, and care for plants and animals. They also learn appropriate social skills , such as saying please and thank-you, being kind and helpful, listening without interrupting, and resolving conflicts peacefully. In addition Practical Life activities promote independence, and fine- and gross-motor coordination.
Language-driven activities help children acquire vocabulary and develop skills needed for writing and reading. Using hands-on materials, children learn letter sounds, how to combine sounds to make words, how to build sentences, and how to use a pencil. Once these skills are acquired, children spontaneously learn to read.
Through hands-on activities, children learn to identify numerals and match them to their quantity, understand place-value and the base-10 system. They also practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. With an exploratory approach, children do more than just memorize math facts; they gain a firm understanding of the meaning behind them.

“We have been so happy with Brazos Learning! Our 3-year-old has learned and grown so much in just the few months he has been there! The entire staff is amazing, kind, and so responsive! I especially like that they use Transparent Classroom, so I can see pictures of him and what he’s learning so I can help him more at home! Worth every penny!”
“My daughter has been attending BLMS since they opened this year. We are impressed with her new skill set not only academically but as a whole person. She has learned so much more than the preschool basics; she is also learning about manners and how to treat other people. She is consistently impressing us with her knowledge of the world and the people in it. We are so happy that BLMS has opened in this area and our daughter will continue to go here until she ages out.”
